Interview with David Kihogo, Accountant, Clermont Trust UK
Date: 02 March 2022
One word that best describes how you work: Reliable
1. Could you share a few insights about the most challenging financial project you’ve ever ever worked on?
We have a phrase in the accounts team: “nothing’s ever straight forward”. Every day brings a different challenge. Each client has different accounting, reporting and financial requirements, and keeping on top of them is demanding in itself. The most challenging and also the most interesting project for me has been entity restructuring.
2. You have been with Clermont Trust for almost six years. What to date has been the highlight of your time here?
Having the opportunity to meet and work alongside wonderful colleagues in London, Geneva, the BVI and Mauritius. I’ve also gained valuable industry exposure and experience during my time at Clermont.
3. I understand that you work closely with your direct colleagues in the United Kingdom and the accounting team in Mauritius. Please tell us more about that.
It is a pleasure to work with both teams. My colleagues in the London office make day-to-day work very enjoyable. The Mauritius team, while newer to the company, have provided valuable support and we often work closely to meet client demands. We have built a strong professional relationship, which is key to achieving our shared goals.
4. The world is your oyster. If you could travel to one place, where would it be and and why?
It would have to be Maui, Hawaii. Plenty of culture to experience, great weather, white-sand beaches and baby-blue ocean. Couldn’t ask for anything more!
5. We finish the interview and you step outside the office and find a lottery ticket that ends up winning £10 million. What would you do?
I would give a portion away to family and friends, appoint an excellent company like Clermont Trust to help manage my wealth, and put a careful plan in place to protect and grow the value of the assets.
