MAKING A DIFFERENCE IN MOROCCO

Restoring the Environment, Strengthening Communities

From 13 to 17 May, colleagues from across the Group came together in Casablanca for Clermont Global Gathering 2026. We took this opportunity to dedicate a full day to bringing the Clermont Conscience programme to life through a series of social and environmental activities, from beach clean-ups to tree planting. Together, these activities will leave a positive and lasting impact on local communities.

Through our Clermont Conscience programme, our international team of 130 colleagues supported local grassroot initiatives in partnership with Association Al Chourouk. Based in Bouznika, Morocco, Al Chourouk is a civil society organisation dedicated to developing young people’s capabilities, fostering creativity and innovation, and promoting socio-educational integration.

“Clermont Conscience is an initiative that evolved quite organically. We have a rounded approach to supporting communities where we are based, but also where our clients and their families that we serve are based,” said Kim Grover, Executive Director of Clermont Trust Group.

Community Support: Building Bikes for Children

Determined to bring smiles to children’s faces, 28 colleagues rolled up their sleeves to build six bicycles. More than just a gift, the bikes will give children at a local primary school the opportunity to enjoy outdoor play and physical activity. Most importantly, they will help those who live further away travel to and from school each day.

Beyond the donation itself, the activity was about more than assembling bikes. It was an opportunity to build stronger teams, strengthen community connections, and create something that will make a real difference in these children’s lives.

Environment: 180 kg of Litter Collected from Bouznika Beach

Located between Casablanca and Rabat, Bouznika Beach is renowned for its pristine golden sands and stunning Atlantic coastline. Despite its natural beauty, sections of the beach have been affected by litter and marine debris, with around 3 kilometres of coastline impacted by discarded waste.

46 colleagues contributed to restoring this beautiful stretch of coast as part of our shared commitment to protecting the environment. Over the course of the clean-up, the teams collected approximately 180 kg of litter, filling around eighteen large bags with plastic waste, bottles, and other packaging materials.

While the immediate result was a cleaner shoreline, the initiative was about much more than removing waste. It served as a meaningful reminder of our collective responsibility to protect natural spaces, inspiring greater awareness of coastal conservation and the everyday actions that help preserve these environments for future generations.

Community Support: 118 Olive Trees Planted

Olive trees are deeply rooted in Morocco’s agricultural heritage, playing a vital role in preserving soil, supporting biodiversity, and promoting long-term environmental sustainability. As the trees mature, they will contribute to the productivity of Mohamed’s farm, supporting future olive harvests and strengthening the long-term sustainability of his land.

55 colleagues visited Mohamed’s farm, where they planted 118 olive trees in just two hours. In around six years, the trees will begin producing olives that can be pressed into oil and shared with the local community. More than a tree-planting activity, this was an investment in the future.

By encouraging sustainable agricultural practices and helping to preserve productive farmland, the initiative contributes to the resilience of the wider rural economy, ensuring that both the land and the communities who depend on it can continue to thrive for generations to come.

It has just been great fun! It’s a lovely team building opportunity, everybody has come together,” added Kim Grover.

These initiatives were a quiet but powerful expression of Clermont Conscience in action, showing how shared effort can create meaningful and lasting impact.

Beyond supporting local communities and strengthening partnerships, our time in Morocco brought colleagues from across the Group closer together. Working side by side outside our usual roles strengthened relationships, reinforced our shared purpose, and reflected the spirit of Clermont Trust at its best: people coming together with care, commitment, and conscience to make a positive difference wherever we are.
